called local lfs and asked him if he has gotten anything in recently that i like and he said soome kind of ciichlid that he didnt know the name of it or if it was african/central/south. he said they were around 6 inches and were silver with greyish looking stirpes through them with reddish tales and some yellow tipping on the fins with a mouth shape that resembles a sheep heads mouth. does this ring a bell to anyone? thanks

By sheepshead do you mean Archosargus probatocephalus (aka Sheepshead found on the east coast) or Semiscossyphus pulcher (California Sheephead)? I think its the east coast one you are refering to but just gotta check. Do the fins have any stripes or dots? Any other distinguishing features on the body?

Sheep head in great lakes is actually a freshwater drum.

Are you sure the LFS even knows if it is really a cichlid?

The Great Lakes "sheephead" is Aplodinotus grunniens. The two listed earlier are marine species

ill get some pics up monday or tuesday and you can see what it is.
