Thanks. He had alot of yellow on him and i wasnt sure what juvies coloration was. Glad to know he will be a bit smaller than i thought he would get. I had 24 inches in my mind being a grouper an all. I plan on putting the grouper and 2 triggers in my 7 foot 265 gallon tank when they outgrow my 6 foot 135g. How quickly can i expect it to grow with a decent diet and a six foot tank ?

Right now i have it in with an 3 " queen angel, 4-5 " humu trigger a 2 " niger trigger, 2 3-4 " yellow tangs and a 3-4 " kole tang and a pair of 3-4 " tomatoe clowns. I also have a couple of pajama cardinals , a bangai cardinal and 3 stripe damsel that are very small so i am attempting to move them right now, got half of them in the new tank and hope to catch the rest in the next day or two if they let me. I have one pajama cardinal that is 3 inches that i will likely move as well since its not aggressive at all that i can see.

Think i can safely leave a couple wrasses in with him ( lunare and pinstripe ) Im a bit concerned the wrasses wont get big enough, the pinstripe (melanuras ) for example in profiles says it will only reach five inches. Any thoughts ? Im thinking it will ambush anything it feels it might be able to fit into its mouth. Another related question, will it kill other tankmates just to kill them or only smaller ones to eat ?

If raised from a small size, the percentage of him eating them goes way down. The only thing i would worry about is him outgrowing everything else. If heavily fed you can expect at least an inch a month. Could be more, could be less. At such a small size he very well could put on 2-3 inches this month, but he will slow down after 6 inches.

Wow, that is a fast growth rate. I know what you mean about fast growth now and slowing down after reaching a certain size, my large cichlids were similar growth patterns . Im feeding them pellets, frozen krill, brine shrimp, mysis, chopped raw shrimp and some green dried seaweed. Would you recommend any other foods to feed this mixed tank ? Oh, i also have a couple of anemone and two sponges (the queen angel has shown no interest in eating the sponges yet so i have not moved the sponges yet)
