I got this fish in with some feeder guppies here in kentucky and as the lady was bagging them up she said., (you got a mystery fish in your bag do you want me to get it out.) I responded with no but asked what it was and she said that they get all kinds off fish in with the feeders but they never grow them out to see what they are. So I have let this one get a little size on him and I still do not know exactly what it is. He chases feeder guppies and tries to eat them but i have never seen him actualy get one. He will eat the flakes that i feed the others. SO what do you think it is?

i had one of those.
it would eat fish half its length.

The second pic allthou blurry is of him opening his mouth. And its mouth opens big like a bass. But i have kept hatchling large mouths before and this ones coloration is off from a large mouth. Do killie's eat guppies. The Killies i see in the lfs's all stay at the top of the tank and do not chase the other fish like this one.

belonosox? no Id say killi we used to get them in the feeder tanks at the lfs i used to work at got some excellent colours.

i didnt know killifish had that body structure.
in some of the pics the "beak" of a belenesox is quite obvious.
i could be wrong.

i did a search on that name ^^ and it does not have the same markings as what i am finding. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundulus i have seen alot of killi's and the ones i am use to seeing stay at the top of the tanks and do not chase and maybe eat guppies. The fish that i have has a green tint to it and stripes from top to bottom. Its head under its mouth area is a whiter color. And it has a big mouth that opens up to allmost as big as the diameter of its body. Do killi fish have this type of mouth and do they act like predators? This fish is never on the top of the water it mostly stays close to the bottom and lays under or around over hanging decor. Does this sound like a killi's behaviour? ---------------------------------thanks to anyone that can and has helped me out. i just want to know what i have. LOL
