to my knowledge there are no "subspecies" of brasiliensis. there may be collection point variants but not subspecies. I don't know if anyone besides those who collected them would know exactly where they came from, but then again if you got them at an lfs they probably came from a fish farm somewhere. :grinyes:

yeah, there is no sub species, so to speak, but they are named by their collection points....unless you know were they where collected from its hard to make a positive id....sorry, but that is why they call them the brasiliensis COMPLEX....im currently in dispute with a dealer who sold me iporangensis, under the name of bahia red......nice fish but clearly not bahia reds.....and clearly not worth $400 for 6.....i'm quickly learning that the whole geo scene, is clouded in misrepresentaion, which wouldn't be a problem, except they are so bloody expensive!!! and when you find that you havent got what you paid for, it kind of takes the shine of that section of the hobby!!!

Yeah I've been trying to get a Geo tank going, but there are no Geos to be found... except ordering offline and that costs money I dont have lol
