I'm new to keeping bichirs. I just got these 3, they are all 6-8 inches long I spent 130 on them. The guys at the store weren't sure what the banded one was so I figured I'd post all 3.

First Guy, the real mystery:

I think this next one I think is an Polypterus ornatipinnis but I'd like to verify with you guys:

I think this last guy is a polypterus palmas but again new to this so I thought I'd check with you guys:

id are confirmed, they are del, ornate, and sen, very nice pick up, what's the tank size?

They are temporarily in an 100 gallon breeder 6'Lx1.5W'x1.5'H

I plan to get them in a tank at-least double that size in the next year or year and a half after I move. They are currently living with a bunch of african cichlids all over 5 inches long. I worried that they might harass the bichirs but currently only the duboisi is doing that everyone else ignores them and fights among themselves still. The tank mates will probably be switched up sooner than the tank will enlarge. I was thinking of getting a fire eel and some other appropriate monster fish to house them with that won't get obscenely large. To see more of there tanks and my aquarium setup I started a very Incomplete(missing valuable build info and pictures) DIY thread here with lots of pictures of my different tanks and their fish:

I'll add these pics to the end of the thread.

What are the differences between a sengal and a palmas? Size, color, behavior, growth rate? Is one more rare than the other? Of all of these new guys the sengal is the only one that has eaten in front of me. He's eating cichlid pellets and freeze dried krill. He ate after about 30 minutes in the tank. I'm sure he'll be fine he is extremely active. The other two are way more placid and won't move for hours on end. The ornate had swim bladder problems when introduced but they seem to have been sorted out. I'm pretty sure the delhezi has eaten some shrimp. Still concerned about the ornate though.

RT delhezi

Ornate

Senegal (could be longfinned???, not sure)
