I have a 150 gallon pond with a few kois and a water lily. Can anyone share with me any simple idea for a filter with the items I have in hand now. I have a 5 gallon bucket, bio-balls, sponges and gravel. Not too sure how to go about building my filter. So many ideas and getting confuse. TQ.

First off :welcome::mwave::welcome:.

Now... You've got everything you need except a pump and HD or lowes can help with that. Get a pump for a water feature (fountain) and calculate in the head pressure).

Here are several different types, the first and second are the best for your situation.

Read these over and let us know if you have questions :D.

Oh ya, charge the batteries for your digital camera, no excuses for not posting pix :ROFL:.

How do I layer the media? What should go in first / last? Will borrow my bro's digi-cam once I build the filter and get it running.

If your feeding from the top...course pre-filter, filter, bio-media (scrubbies etc.), then a sump area for the pump.

What do you mean a 'sump area for the pump'? I was thinking of placing the pump one end of the pond, use a pvc pipe connect from the pump to the filter bucket (placed another end of the pond) from the bottom to top. What do you think?
