i need to make a tank hood for my 100 and i really dont wanna go out and buy one and i thought makeing one would be a lot cheaper and also i want to make something with my own hands so any ideas would help

Just use boards an make one, you can put what ever lighting you want in it an there rather easy to build.
thats what i was thinking and i was trying to desid lights like a regular hood would have or like little screw in lights (light bulbs)
Check out my DIY thread on my stand for my 220 there is a DIY canopy in there as well, there very simple to make 
i've used pvc trim as framing for plexi and glass lids, works great. i like using the plexi more, less chance of breaking during cleaning and if a fish jumps into it.
