An island somewhere......
Okay.... new idea for the garage. I currently have a rack system holding tanks. I've transitioned from 125g. tanks with smaller tanks above them.... tired of staring at this setup. I plan on ordering 3 tanks this week, 72"l x 30"w x 24"h that will go side by side spanning an entire 20" wall in my garage. Need idea's on how to do a built-in, framed stand spanning 18'-19', bolted to the wall. I plan on framing this in and resting it on the stem wall of the garage and propping the stand up on the bottom with either concrete blocks or pressure treated post to prevent damage from moisture. I've built quite a few stands but trying to get ideas.... so any ideas or links would be helpful.

buy 3 6' stands ;)

I think it would be difficult a build a completly level 19' foot stand, so the first thing that comes to mind for me would be to put them on cinder/concrete blocks and use ply wood on the tops of them for the tanks to sit on, and then cover them in more pywood for looks.

Normally, the most important thing in an unusual build is to not let other people tell you that "you can't do that". If there is a will, there is always a way.

Frame in a stand and then use that space for your filtration and equipment. A stand made with blocks just wastes precious space.

To make the stand perfectly straight and level, use either a laser level or a water level to draw a line at the height of the stand on the wall where the stand will be made. Then for each set of legs, you will need to make individual measurements from the line to the floor to find each leg length (floors are not perfect and garages are sloped). Use care and precision in your measurements and cuts.

Lastly, take lots of pictures and post a thread of your progress :grinyes:
