Last night I 'adopted' a tank from a friend who had to last-minute relocate for her husband's job. How could I pass up a free tank? And I was just about to start on an angelfish tank too, and this has an angel in it already. It's probably at least a couple years old, I'm wondering if it's stunted at all, if I could introduce any other angels into the tank, and lastly, I'm not a fan of decorated tanks and I want a biotope. I want to change this tank into basically the opposite of what it is now. My biggest question on the biotope is, what sort of substrate should I have if I want it moderately planted with driftwood (or something similar.) Never done a real biotope before, any advice appreciated. I normally do a lot of research beforehand, but this project sort of fell in my lap.

angels are uaually found in the same waters as discus. sand bottom with lots of wood. no plants except for floating. if you want plants it will be a S.A. tank, not a biotope.

Changed to a sand substrate and took the decorations out... will take the plants out when I get some driftwood and floating plants in, just wanted somewhere for the fish to hide in the meantime. photo(5).JPG
