Need ideas for tank decor

Here's my 75 gal. (48" x 18") thus far...will be Cichla only. Starting off with 3 C. orinocensis...and hopefully expanding from there. Trying to get some good ideas for a natural looking tank...not sure if gravel/sand would be the way to go or not...I don't like sand because I know it'll wash the color of the fish out. Was thinking of adding some green to it though with plastic plants.....where's Diesel Mack when I need him?

i think black sand will bring more color OUT of the fish, and not wash it out.

You make a good point....know of any sources to get it cheap? I don't want to pay LFS prices....

If only you were closer, i have a lot of black sand that i don't use. I personally love small grain gravel. The stuff I use is called peace river but i can't remember who makes it...

I google searched it and I think caribsea makes it. Looks awesome, guess I'll see if my brother can get it in for me. I just can't do pea gravel again...

Black sand is great. A little green can't hurt. A lot of the fake plants for reptiles look better than the ones for fish..
