Hi,

any ideas on how to reinforce the floor from the top?
My tank is 4x2x2, but i would like to upgrade it to 5x2x2, but i'm worried that the tank will be quite heavy, any ideas if there's a way to reinforce the flooring from the top and not adding support brlow the wooden floor?

thanks.

Not much you can really do about reinforcing the floor from on top, the best you can achieve is to distribute the weight of the tank and stand across a bigger area. All you can really do is place a piece of wood the size of the foot print of your tank under the stand to spread out the weight. You don't happen to know if that's a load bearing wall that the tank is up against do you?

thanks :) I'm currently planning to replace the stand with a wooden stand which will distribute the wight of the tank across a bigger area:) I guess i won't upgrade my tank while its placed there.

thanks , now thinking of upgrading tank from 4x2x2 to maybe 5 or 6 footer.
but I'm planning to have a wooden stand which will spread the load better.
btw how much weight difference will a 5x2x2 have to a 4x2x2?

Do you have a basement? Assuming you do, just put some 4x4 posts under the floor joists where the tank will sit. Just drain you current tank and put the posts in, then fill your new tank. If you don't have a basement you don't have to worry about the weight. But I assume you do have a basement and you said you want to support it from above so adding supports below isn't an option. SO put the tank near a load bearing wall and you should be okay.

thanks :) I'm staying on the 2nd floor, our ground floor has been rented out to some one else, so if possible i don't want to disturb them or make them uneasy with my tank which is on top of them . So for load bearing wall theoretically the floor should be able to take the weight of the tank?

Planning to get a cabinet and a 5x2x2 nect month
which would be a better place in your opinions to put a tank?here in the original place of my old tank? Thi shas a wall on the back

or also thinking of puutting the new tank here, in place of the christmas tree. I feel this part is the hardest on the whole floor as, when you jump it feelds like jumping on cement. I'm not 100% sure but i think this part the part below is solid.

the tank will become a divider as well?
