We've had a red eyed croc skink in a 10 gallon tank for over a year and it's doing fine, it's fairly active for a croc skink.

Although I would agree it's not ideal - they will sustain their lives in something that size.

Your lucky because all people I know here that tryed them losed them very soon. These guys can even get sick from things we generaly acossiate more with amphibs then with lizards such as fungus and bacteria infections because their substrate its mostly boggy and if it is somewhat unclean it encorages thouse patogenic agents and worse in small cages
 
Eastern newts and firebelly newts can work in a 10 gallon, as can a dwarf siren. Most other aquatic sallies need more room.
