Hello, I am thinking about getting oscars. However, I dont know very much aabout them other than they can get quite big (dont know the exact size) and the common colors. Also what would be the best size tank for them? Any help is appriciated, thanks

i agree with the other posters that 75 gallons is good for just one oscar-as they are fast growers and get around a foot in length. they are really great fish-i have a red one in an 180 gallon with his buddies. so far, ive found they are compatible with severums, firemouths, vieja argentea, silver dollars, jd's... pretty much any larger fish with the same temperment as your oscar. they also need a varied diet starting with a good quality pellet, and mine love krill, spirulina, frozen veggies, ...
oscars are notorious in trying to make you believe you are STARVING them to death.. but dont be fooled lol
My Tiger Oscar is pretty much the same, he's 9" big, had him since he was 2.5", and he knows exactly who I am, I walk by the tank, My oscar swims to the side of the tank that I'm by. If i'm sitting on the couch infront of the tank, he stays on that side of the tank. If someone else walks by the tank he doesn't move, he stays where I'm at. My oscar is my all time favorite and most important fish in my tank. Since I've had him for so long, I can hand feed him, I can put my hand in the tank, b/c he knows it's me, but if someone else puts their hand in the tank, he attacks them.navygirl76;3850828;3850828 said:lol my oscar shakes his booty every time i walk by the tank. i look over the back of the couch towards the tank, and he's in the corner closest to me begging...
