Apple Snails:
Like hard water.
Dislike salt.
Eat fish food.
Need a male and a female to reproduce.

www.applesnail.net will tell you everything you can ever imagine about apple snails.

ok thats wonderful thankyou very much..

Apple snails will eat plants, and animal matter. I've heard of them getting trained to eat fish food, but mine eat mostly algae, and other plants I have in my aquarium. My one snail sometimes even eats my catfish food, and the catfish arent happy. Apple snails are perfectly fine with 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons of water which is what I have. My snails have bred in these conditions. Their shells will disolve in soft water, and keep the pH from 6.8-7.2. 6.8 if you don't have biological filtration (bio-wheel), and 7.2 if you do. If you want your snail to be more active, turn the temperature up to 76 degrees. If you want less active snails, but a longer life span, turn the temperature down to 68 degrees.

i have one. its 3'' in diamitor. mine eats cichlid pellets, krill, LOVES cucumber. had mine for 1 year. the water ph is 6.8. my oscar loves to play with it. he even cleans off the filter intake for me. by far the best snail i have:D

It's best to give them a high-calcium diet, like blanched romaine lettuce and I make them "snail Jello" which I got from Dakotagirl on www.aquariacentral.com.

apple snails do eat plants. thats the reason pomacea canaliculata has been banned for sale in warmer states. pomacea bridgesii (mystery snail) does not eat plants.
lettus is not very nutritious unless you need water and fiber. spinach and greens are better.
