Im on my way right now to get a nice 180 gall tank from my lfs and i was wondering i know this thing is gonna way over 1500 pounds when its up and running so will 2+4s work for the stand or should i go bigger and should i make sure its on ground level or is that not a concern? I dont want to mess this up i dont know when i will be able to afford this again.

how much are you spending on the tank new? you may be able to find a good stand used for cheap.

if you really want to build it yourself, you will want most of the strength on each corner. if you have 2x4's you can make what they call "posts" in framing. you can nail 3 2x4 of the same size together to make a nice solid post. this is strong enough to hold up interior weight bearing walls in a home, so this will be fine for the stand. you may want to look at some of the DIY plans/builds on here to find better details (pics) and further ideas. its tough to explain without blueprints or pics
