need Information

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there are a lot of plecs that have been spawned in tanks fairly easily. most plecs are riverine so a lot of current will help. powerheads are great for this. I think pvc pipes are the hideouts of choice from most spawning plecs. put a bunch of pvc pipes in the tank and let them choose one. you'd probably have to start out with several juveniles and grow them up together. there's a lot more to it than that but those are the basics. you'll also need lots of time and patience. :D one day I hope to breed L264's or L75's. :D

Equiptment needed: Get a small TV and DVD player. Place it in front of your tank and play a Disc Channel video with fish mating in the wild. It's like fish porn!

hmm

Discus used to be hard to keep in the '70s. But now there is much info available on how to keep and breed them. Like many south american fish, they need well kept water.

Not sure about plecos but I see some types bred frequently.

The wild-caught discus are hard to breed, but the cative varieties breed easily. They need their ideal pH/temp range, and good water quality. The same goes for most plecos, but they also need the space and the preferred spawning substrate, what is variable, depending on the species. Now do your homework on the discus and be more specific about the pleco you want to breed. ;)
And good luck.

Best regards.

Daniel.
