Need input on purchase choices

Here are some pics of the fish that I will be getting this week. 5 fry and a six inch juvie. Plus the parents the fry. The fry are 5$ a piece and the juvie is 50$. Let me know what you guys think and be honest. The first two pics are fry and the juvie. Last two are the pair that the fry came from. I'm new at the FH game and decided to get my feet wet slowly. Thanks for any and all feedback!

I'd say you get the prettiest fry to your eyes and raise it. That price is a steal for ones that look like that.
 
IMO, $75 doesn't count as just getting your feet wet. :D

The juvie is definitely nice. Still, I would rather get 6 fry for $5 a piece and grow them out. Within 4-6 months or so you will have 6 fish the same size as that juvie you are buying and you may end up with at least one or two that are much nicer. I see at least one in that bunch of fry that will most likely look very similar to the 6" juvie, and I see a handful more that may be MUCH nicer. Anyway, it's totally your call. $50 isn't bad on the big guy, but I would vote for gambling on the fry.
 
very good buy on the fry and the juvie u should get 5 more fry tho now while there still cheep as nice as they look ,just spend the whole $100
 
I tend to agree, i think you should get a few of the best looking juvies and raise them if you have the space. Then keep the best one,which could look better than the juvie, who is nice but not as nice as the parents imo.
jeez I wish i had that kinda choice when i bought mine. GoodLuck!!
 
I'm taking the good advice from everyone! I'm not getting the juvie and instead getting 10 more fry and putting dividers in my empty tanks. Thanks everybody, I'll keep you posted on their development.
