Seeking ideas from fellow DIY people on lids for this tank. I can’t seem to come up with any ideas, openings are cut straight so there’s no lip for anything to lay in there. Hopefully someone here has a tank with a similar top. Thanks

this is what I did for my thirty gallon with a similar top

just get a sheet of plywood, cut it to shape and then cut a hole in the middle for a light but make sure you make the hole a bit smaller than the light, in both length and width. that way the light has no chance of falling in. lastly you cut a fair sized length of plywood off the piece you already cut to fit the top of your tank and attach it Back on with hinges, if you wanted it to stay on better, just get those small magnets with the sticky Bottom and put them around the edges, that way you can take it off but it still stays stable when its on

best of luck!!!

If it were me I'd probably get two pieces of glass cut so that each half the top was covered my a piece then used a long piano style hinge to hinge the two pieces together. thin 1/4" glass is fairly cheap so wouldn't cut a lot. It looks like you have some sort of angled ceiling over it as well so you could even take advantage of that and put a little hook on the ceiling and if you mounted a handle to the one side lid you could run some jack chain down from the hook to hold the lid open for making in tank maintenance easier.

Two sheets like mentioned above, possibly four sheets. If you are worried or bothered by water condensing and then running out over the edge off the tank it should be pretty easy to make a lip/dam on the top of the tank around whatever top pieces you go with so the water goes back into the tank. I’d think since you don’t have a long run of open space you could get away with 3/16ths glass, maybe even double strength, as opposed to 1/4 inch.
