I don't know if this was the right section to post this, as i have browsed all the other major section, but the category did not fit what i was going to post. So if this is in the wrong section. Sorry for being a newbie.
Ok, lets get down to business, I'm thinking about buying a used 250 gallon salt water aquarium for $600.00 Supposedly no leaks or cracks. Comes with the stand but no top canopy. From what i can gather from the person who is selling the aquarium. It seems to have a lot of major salt creep build up inside the aquarium. Now what i want to know is this a good buy? And if i do buy the darn thing, how would you go about getting rid of the build of salt creep? I need to know the easiest and most effective way. I plan of turning it into a fresh water aquarium. Opinions and advice greatly appreciated.

I heard vinegar and a razor blade works well. I got a free 55 gallon once, it was salt water and had a ton of build up and i just used a razor blade and a ton of water and i eventually got it off.

As for the tank itself, its not a bad deal at all, especially if there are built in overflows

I got a 90 gallon SW tank COVERED in salt... so bad you couldn't tell what color the trim was.

Apple Cider Vinegar, and a razor will fare well.

Is this tank acrylic or glass? If its acrylic do not use a razor blade you will scratch the hell out of it. If its glass be every careful using a razor blade because it can still scratch it and if there are already scratches that have any depth to them be even more careful because you can easily chip away at the scratch.

The tank is glass. Should i just pour a lot vinegar in the aquarium and let it soak for a few hours then go with the razor blade?

No, just keep a wet layer on it... spray bottles work best.
