This big cat has been rumbling and knocking the decor around its cave for a day or two, so I took a good look at her and found this:
The white area around it looks to be scar tissue, so is this pretty much taking care of itself already?
I wasn't sure if it was a heater burn or an ulcer from rubbing, so I rearranged the cavework and elevated the heater a bit to make contact much less likely.
Two of the three heaters are encased in holey PVC, I just haven't done this one because it's in a low-flow area and I didn't want to overwork the thermostat.
No ammonia or nitrItes. NitrAtes have gotten a tad high, up into the 30ppm range but no higher. Raphs are known for their nitrAte tolerance, anyway.
If you saw this on your prized cat, what would you do?
