Ok I would like to stock a tank with 2 oscars, 2 jd's, 2 sevs, 2 eclipse cats, and a pleco. I have read posts that all these would be good tank mates but would love to hear opinions. I currently only have 2 eclipse cats in a 75gal they are roughly 4" which is about double the size they were when I got them 4 months ago. Soon I will be making a custom large tank for a permanent home. What size of tank would I be looking at to house all these fish comfortably?

Get the biggest tank you can fit in the space available, for the suggested stock a 72/24 foot print as a absolute minimum. For stock I would get more sevs and leave the jd's out as they require different water parameters to the oscars and sevs, I don't know much about cats so someone else will have to chime in on them.

Since you're planning on building it yourself for water volume alone 8x3x2.5, bare minimum if like to see a marineland 300 dd or 6x2.5x2.5. You've got some extra dirty fish and the smaller you go the harder it'll be to keep clean water. At full grown it'd be a struggle to keep a 240 clean.

Yes sun cats are awesome I have to wait till night when the lights go out to watch them, they stay hidden all day
