need opinions substrate

A while back I got some assorted swords from someone, at the time I put the plants in pots with a mixture of sand and the substrate that aquariumplants.com sells, these then went into a barebottom tank. What I want to do is turn the tank into an actual planted tank so I can take out the pots, only question is what would be better for the plants, sand substrate or the stuff aquariumplants.com sells? The sand I have is aquarium filter sand.

Plants grow great in both. You have the sand now, so might as well stick with it.

I would definitely say that plants would grow better in a substrate actually made for plants, but they will do fine in sand too. It's really up to you.

Well I have both the sand and the substrate from aquariumplants.com, so from here I guess it's what I prefer to look at, haha. Thanks for all the input!
