I'm working on a presentation on invasive aquatic species and things the general public can do to help combat new invasions. I'll be talking about not releasing aquarium specimens into the wild. I'm looking for a clear picture of a fish that has outgrown its tank. I was hoping for a picture of a pacu or some other fairly inexpensive, readily available species. (And YES, I have checked google. I've even checked around craigslist some, but I haven't quite found what I'm looking for.)

If any mods think this would fit better in the lounge, feel free to put it there

anyone?

I can't post it on my iPod touch, but there's a pic of about a 4-5 foot arapaima in I think it was a 180 gallon along with like 5 or 6 other fish in it. Look up overcrowded arapaima. I guess that's not really a very common, inexpensive fish but it's a great example.

Thanks. If I can't find anything else, that will work. I have seen arapaima for sale in normal pet stores before. Not particularly cheap, but they are available

ive done the exact same presentation on invasive species bak in 9th grade bio class xD

i had pleco in southeastern US , and asian carp in mississippi, and pbass in florida, imported farm fish for food, as examples.... .... instead of showin pics of fish in the tank, i would show pics of invasive fish in the invaded area instead....

and in case u r wondering, i failed that presentation since the general public have no idea what the heck we fish keepers r talkin bout... they dont know wat a pleco is ... so ya, beware of that, say only wat they will understand
thats my advice ( assumin u r younger than me, im 16 , but if not , then nevermind xD)

hope that helps

Actually, I'm 20 I'm almost 21-not in high school anymore. ;) I doubt you did a presentation like this. This is for a college class, although it's for a public speaking course, so the information isn't as important as the presentation itself. The fact that the general public might now know what a pleco is is the very reason I'm doing it. These pictures are for the introduction where I introduce the audience to the subject and provide them with a more concrete example of what I'm talking about (pacu and RTCs being easily available and often released) to hopefully catch their attention. This presentation isn't so much about actual invasive species as how/why they are introduced, effects of their introduction, and what the general public can do to help combat this problem and educate others

And yes Cohazard, that's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for-not only pacu, but a RTC too, thanks!
