I recently set up a 29G, which is going to be planted. Substrate is eco-complete, lighting 48W of T5HO, going to use flourish excel (maybe diy CO2 in the future) and dry ferts. I need some plant ideas, as I don't really know what to get.

thanks

here's a pic of my 55g. in it i have the following:

- anubias
- java fern
- various mosses
- blyxa japonica
- rotala rotundifolia
- rotala wallichi
- stargrass (cant remember scientific name)

i think most of these would work well if you stay up on the dosing of Excel. out of these, i think only the blyxa and r. wallichi are the more sensitive ones

I've got this massive chunk of mopani driftwood (relative to the tank size)
I can attach some stuff to that, right?

Your tank is very nice, BTW, I remember seeing it before.

Yes, you can attach plants to driftwood. Java fern, most mosses, and Anubias do well attached to driftwood.

i have that much T5HO on my 29 and can grow almost anything i want in the tank. i do have a reg with CO2 injection.

i would say start with easier plants but you have the option to grow almost anything. i would also recomend starting the DIY CO2 because it will only help. (unless you only have one plant in the hole tank) and run an airstone at night.

hope that helps.

I would look into crypts as well. there is a wide range of color and texture available.

ditto on the crypts you've got the lighting for any color plant

And that pic is truely gorgeous! wish my fish would let me plant up a tank like that but then again I am a monster fish keeper

Stargrass is a nice plant...

I think I'm going to start by adding some java fern and anubias, since they are easy to find. Should I start dosing excel when I add them?

I got them. Should anubias be attached to driftwood or is planted fine too?
