Getting ready to start hardscaping my planted tank, still going through ideas...
But... I was planning organic potting soil with Seachem Flourite sand on top... With the Flourite sand, is there any need for the potting soil, or does the flourite sand already have enough nutrients in it?

Or could I just go ahead with potting soil underneath as a cheaper method of getting the depth I want?

Flourite is fine for planting right into, and I have. Really, you can use PFS if you just add your own ferts. And it's not like any substrate you put in won't leech out its nutrients in time anyway, so eventually it won't make a difference. You can use potting soil to save money if you'd like.

Well the reason I was going flourite is because I want black sand in this tank, so PFS won't cut it. I do however have about half a bag each of organic potting soil and PFS, so might mix them for under the flourite black sand, to cut the amount of black sand I'll need... just fill the sand/potting soil mix to the edge of the frame where it's not seen...
