So I have ich in my tank, and no hospital tanks. Everything has it. I am currently dosing RidIch+ twice a day at full dose, with 40% water change between doses, and just added some aquarium salt. temp is at 83

my arowana just started jerking his head back and forth a lot about 20 minutes after adding salt. his fins arent clamped, but he jerks his head. is it because he it itchy because of the ich, or maybe too much salt? what should i do? i just changed water 2 hours ago, i dont really want to if i dont have to again

I had a similar issue with my small arowana a few days after I purchased him, I started a thread which you may have seen before that contains some good info and is the extent of my knowledge on ich, and the aro's tolerance of the treatments. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178006 I will also say that I have had my aro in salt up to 3 lbs. per gallon and had no ill effects (needed that much salt to treat a sick ray). I have read that people also tend to underdose when using salt. Good luck and hope this helps. I

I would stop with the RidIch, potent stuff. Directions state to not use if the fish look stressed.

You can treat ich with heat and aquarium salt. Raise temp to 85 degrees and add 1 tablespoon salt per 5 gallons of water. Keep an I on nitrates and do weekly water changes be sure to add salt for the amount of water you change. This treatment should be continued for three weeks even if the ich has disappeared.

Also the warmer the water the less oxygen there is, so make sure your tank is well aerated.
