so my lfs had trouble getting in my 2x gars and my motoro after (distributor didnt feel comfortable sending the motoros cause something was up with them) however he did get my aro in .. so im going to pick the aro up tomorrow.

the distributor had a second type of ray too. the motoro's were $190 CAD and this ray was $120 CAD. since he couldnt get the motoro for me he went ahead and got one of this second type of ray sent in and i could go with him if i liked him. if not he would sell after i had a look. and i could wait for a motoro.

anyways. the lfs is a decent drive away from me so i hate making the drive so i'd like to know this for tomorrow when i go pick my aro up. should i go with this ray is the question .. he just referred to it as a teacup ray when he e-mailed me and got him in.

however my friend went out to that store to pick up what he ordered and had a look at the ray. he said it looked amazing and was written up as "columbian _____" he cant remember what the second word was. he said it was pretty much black .. i sent him a couple pics of retics and he said he doesnt think thats it. he doesnt remember it having light brown spots or the type style the retic had .. what kind of ray is this and should i go with this instead of waiting for motoro?

tank is 225 6 x 2 x 2.5h

actually that's your call . . . it's up to you. but, as difficult as it is to get oddball fish in your area, i'd get it.

i guess that would be a personal preference. i think that you should go and look at whichever ray before you purchase since they're not cheap.

i know if i like it i like it but im hoping someone will be able to tell me maybee from that discription what it might be? or if it is indeed a retic? its my first ray so would like something a little hardier if possible but if this ray will be fine ill prob take it

It sounds like either a retic or an orb. Showing pictures of retics to your friend may not always work as retics and orbs do tend to have a large variety of patterns. I would just stick with motoros if I were you as we have no definite idea as to what the rays are.

Whatever it is, make sure it is eating before you decide to take it. After that it is a personal
preference. Retics can be tricky to get eating and can be finicky.

yah ive heard this. thats the only reason i am hesitent. havent heard the best things about retics. heard being my first ray and all im way better off going with motoro. thats why i decided to spend the extra 70 bucks initially. anyone got a pic of an "orb" so i can decide when i see it the difference between orb and retic?

my bichirs finally decided to be cool today. :). the past two days theyve just hidden and i havent seen them eat. today i came home. turned the lights on to make sure they were still around and dropped in pellets. once the pellets sunk after a few seconds i seen both of them peeping their heads around the corners. sized me up and decided the hunger was worth it lol so they came out and ripped the pellets apart. they seemed to be half spitting it out but still kept bitting it apart so i cant tell but im guessing they were eating some and spitting some out then doing that over and over? or were the pellets a little too big or something? theyd crush it into little pieces then spit it out then grab another little chunk n do it again etc. they are both out around now actually exploring etc. looks amazing.

orbs and retics come in a very wide variety. i say look through the media lounge look up both so you know if it is either of those. then while you are there also look up a few more like hystrix and yepezi just so you know a few types a little better. good luck and i hope you like it. if you have a camera phone take a pic and email or text it to someone on here that can help you.
