I'm finally stepping out of the stone age and getting a HD flat screen. Problem is I'm technologically impared. What tv would you guys recommend. Plasma, lcd, led lcd. I would like to stay in the area of 55 inch like my rear projection tv, and budget up to $1500.00. Any advice and experiences would be appreciated.

i say lcd. thats all i own is 3 vizios because they are cheaper then most lcds and leds but have a pretty good customer review. plasmas run hotter and use more electricity. i guess leds are a little better but you will pay more for them. im guessing you could get a good 55 in lcd flatscreen for about 11-1200 dollers. thats my 2 cents anyway

just cant see the difference in the picture. i looked at the lcds and leds in the store and they really looked the same to me. i guess they may be crisper but i just cant see it with the naked eye. i do bellieve they run at a much faster hrtz which does help for fast moving sports. i just cant justify the price difference. that was 2 yrs ago when i was tv shopping so maybe there closer in price now.

Oh well i had both lcd and led and led was way better and both were samsungs! in my opinion the best brand. And the orice has come way down and they dont run as hot as lcds

LCD or LED - Either is fine but LED is better
120hrtz or more - For a smoother picture
1080p - highest resolution at the moment, better picture quality than 720p

Pretty much all you need to know outside the size you want.

If you can wait till November to get the TV, then you can get a steal of a deal. Black Friday is the best time to get something like this. Got a 24" 1080p lcd for $80 at Best Buy. Walmart was selling 42" lcds for like $250.

Check out slickdeals daily and wait till you find a Sweet offer. Just Google slickdeals if you don't know that site. I picked up one of the cheap Walmart 40" HDTV when they had them for 300 it's good but the speakers rattle but I have external speakers so all is good.

Thanks for the input everyone, I appreciate it. I do think led is the way to go, now to find a good deal and maybe a new surround sound system.
