My plumbing adds up to about 8-10 ft of vertical head loss.

1' PVC and Flex PVC combination and 3/4" PVC from the bulkhead to the tank

I need a submersible pump that can pump out 1000 gph at that head loss.

I'd like to get something that puts low heat and low electrical usage. I am running a Mag 12 right now, but I'd like to maximise the overflow capabilities.

I am trying to stay away from mag drive becasue high heat and high power consumption.

For example, on my 75 reef tank, I switched from Mag 7 to Ocean Runner 2500.

Mag 7 : 700 gph Max head 12 ft, 400 gph at 4 ft 60 watts per hour, Heated a 32 gallon trash can to 80 degrees with 75 degrees room temp.

Ocean Runner 2500: 650 gph, Max Head 10 ft, 380 gph at 4 ft 38 watts per hour, heated 32 gallon trash can to 76 degrees with 75 degrees room temp.

As you can see, The ocean runner pumps about the same flow with a lot less heat and less power consumption. Less heat, less wears on parts and more reliable.
