Have a 180 dual overflow drilled with four 1 inch bulkhead.

I will run a herbie in each overflow, so two siphons and two emergencies.

I have a 40 breeder as a sump. Will be running a co2 reactor off return pump and will tee after reactor to over the back returns.

Additional filtration will be a FX6 and either two Hikari or Hydro sponges.

This will be a mixed plant and discus tank.

I will attempt to minimize restrictions and use 45s for plumbing. With that in mind, which Jedao DCP pump would be best ? Open to other pump recommendations that won't break the bank

I dont personally use one, but Jebao is the way to go for the value from what I've seen here. Model wise it depends on how much turnover you're looking to have. Given it's DC, Id go more for what you need so that you dont need to run full throttle. There are of course other good makes and model, so it depends how much you are willing to spend.

I don't think 45* angles will make a difference based a test done by BRS. Just curious could you get by without using canister? Any reason why a sump alone would not suffice.

Just redundancy if I ever have a return pump failure. I originally was getting a non drilled tank, but got this at a great price. I had already bought the filter prior to tank. Big reason and silly is because my father likes the drain feature and vacuum attachment. Python works like crap, poor water pressure. Turnover 6-7 after 4.5 ft head loss

In the interest of redundancy, I would recommend you run two return pumps. You can probably get by with two of the 6500’s, but I recommend you go with two 8000’s and keep them turned down to about 45-50%. I run two Jebao DCP 8000’s on my 220 with my diy 55 gallon sump and the work great at about 55-60%. I get about 1600gph total out of them.
