Hi all. Planning my next setup. I have everything I need besides 3d background and sides and lights.
I would like any recommendations for lighting. I am not up to date on all the new lighre.

I am not familiar with any of the new lighting and starting to research now. I am only a few weeks away from starting setup. I would like something that slowly turns on and dims off at night. Follows the natural pattern of lighting through the day. LED and possible broad spectrum to house a few plants in a 34" high. Some moss and maybe swords or whatever is very hardy. I would like to incorporate live plants.... if it doesn't workout that's ok.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Finnex 24/7 planted, these are pretty sweet lights google it and there are some really nice YouTube video reviews on these lights. I really love these lights

I agree. Sounds like exactly the set up you want. I've got one and it works well. I did not use the 24/7 feature much as I'd rather have 8hrs of full power for the plants.

Thanks for the response. I just read up on the se +plant. I am very interested in it. I would have to run 2 36"-48" depending on what will fit under my canopy. I would like to hear if anyone else likes them on here.

Do they run pretty cool?

I wonder if they would or could run the 24/7 in pretty good harmony. I may need the 8hrs also, but not 100% sure how I am going to do the plants yet as there will be large fish and that can always turn into a mess quick

Yes. When you hook them up and use the remote you can control both with 1 remote so in a sense they sync.
24/7 planted+ is the one I have. I think the "se" is the newer version I got mine about 2 years ago. Never had an issue with it.

I would also recommend the finnex planted lights with twentyleagues twentyleagues and cigars cigars .

I used two 36" Planted+ SE models on my 84x30x30. I love them and they have a great shimmer. Some of my comments I would have on it are that the

  • 24/7 feature does grow old since you are only seeing morning and night lighting when viewing the tank before and after work so that did bother me at times so i just turn it on and off manually.
  • The light will easily reach the bottom of my 30" tank but is a little dark front to back so I angled them to try and light most of the tank. Creates different spaces but if you like a lot of light I would suggest doing a double row.
  • The remote will work two lights simultaneously which is pretty nice.
  • Also I had polycarbonate lids installed, if I set the leg of the stand on the center of the lids it warps them. I just lay them flat without legs on the acrylic and have no problems.
  • Only negative I have for it is that the cord is to short for my tank which sits roughly 64" high with the stand. I had to find places to rest the power supply on so that it wouldnt pull the light off the tank or dangle.

hope that helps!

I will check those out as well. Yes very informative and I appreciate your time!!
