So I'm considering picking up one of those tapajos orange/red pikes from Infinite Aquatics for my 180 gallon.

Current stock list is:
1 pair of barred midas
1 female jaguar (very peaceful for a jag)
1 amphilophous nourisatti
2 electric blue jack dempsey's (won't keep em' if they can't keep up)
6 sajica
5 red hook silver dollars
1 pearsii
1 royal pleco
1 vampire pleco
2 delhizi bichir
1 ornate bichir
1 endlie bichir

Will be adding some rostratum and vieja synspilum in the future, possibly a true parrot.

I'm wondering if this guy is just going to destroy this tank if I add him in - I'm purposely overstocking to spread the aggression out similar to how african keepers do it - as I've seen this done in person effectively in a tank this size - but I don't know much about pikes aside from that they can be absolutely vicious.

Thoughts?

should be fine i'd say would make a nice addition

i think the barred midas will destroy the tank
the pike will be a handful too
i personally don't know if the sajicas will hang in a tank like that for long either

I don't think the Sajicas will either. I kept a Neet in with my large pikes and Vieja/Paratheraps and he got brutalized. And they aren't a pushover type small cichlid.

Should work out just fine. Not sure on the sizes of your fish though, or of the pike. As that will play a big part in it.

Might as well save yourself a little trouble though and get three or four of them. . .because you are going to end up wanting more. :)

If they weren't a 70 dollar price tag I would, but I'm used to paying squat for my fish ;)

Stock list is:
male barred midas - 8"
female barred midas - 6"
male amphilophous nourisatti - 8"
female jaguar - 9"
electric blue jack dempsey x2 - 4"
pearsii - 4"

I don't think anything else is really of concern in terms of aggression problems between all the larger fish.

The pike would be around 5" according to Rich's stock list.

Other additions that are coming in will be a Vieja symspilum at around 8" and two rostratum at adult size.

when the get older they are visious fin nippers smaller fish not safe up too half its leangth my orange pike killed 4 of my chiclids..got rid of the pike he was a night hunter
