I have an 7-8" Lyonsi that has some fungus spots on it, and several areas where the scale have been scratched. What do you think would be a better product to use for its care, "Fungus Clear" by Jungle or Maracyn-Oxy by Mardel. Fungus Clear is a tablet that you disolve first before administering in the tank. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Fungus is often caused by poor water quality. Salt, as well as lots of water changes will probably be the best option.

Salt and Water changes otherwise yeah you can use meds such as meth. blue to treat fungus. JUst make sure when using any meds, pull ur carbon out of the filter.

What about a combo of pimafix and melafix both are for fungis related illness and nateral?:)

^ I'm not a fan of those products, I like the salt and water changes as a first resort. You could try a saltwater dip too if it's exceptionally bad.

Do you quarentine your fish when you get them. I notice you change fish a lot. Prevention in the future may be the easiest cure.

I read somewhere, that salt actually does more harm than good in these types of situations.
A shame i can't find a link to whatever it was i was reading.

if someone could chime in on this matter it would be great, and benefit the community to get some clarity on this subject!

Well i have talked to alot of guys on the salt subject it's not that it helps most tap warer has enough salt in it already !!It wont hurt either!!Salt helps when a fish is stressed for sure. Its kinda up to fish owner to make the decision on how to treat and what works for them.I like the api products and as you hard some guys don't its preferance .All fungis treatments work with different degrees of effectiveness.Omogena a guy on the forum had put up a nice article on salt and its effectinenees also lupin one of the moderaters .So search the threads and decide whats right for you!!;)

Agreed. IMO its best to not use medication unless you have to.
