Okay so Im pretty stupid because I got a stingray on Thursday and I didnt follow the stickies that I have been reading so intently. He(Im pretty sure its a he) is not eatin,Ive offered him bloodworms and ghost shrimp. He is not lethargic, swims around a lot and doesnt bury himself in the sand. Also after watching him real close I noticed something on him and it was moving. I went to freshwaterstingrays.com and it looked just like a parisite that they described. So I carefully took him out of the tank and real carefully took a pair of tweezers and took it off. He doesnt look that bad but he is getting to look what is described as an unhealthy ray.
He is in a 150 with pool filter sand. All parameters are good in the tank and its fully cycled.
What can I do to help this little guy( He is about 5" around) get healthy and start eating.
This is a couple of phone pics of him and you can see the parisite underneath his right eye.

Sorry for the fuzzy pics.

Thanks

turn your lights off, leave him alone. let him settle in. all this moving him around, removing the parasite has probably got him stressed.

give him TIME.

ok first things first, ur ray is a reticulated ray.
second, shut off all the lights
3rd go get some blackworms, you can leave them in the tank without the water going bad.
Also try earth worms, they seem to do the trick most of the time. leave the lights off for a few days for him to adjust. most likly he is just stressed from the whole process

Ok lights off. I will get some earthworms today but nobody around me has live black(tublifex) worms just freeze dried. Is that okay?

ide stick to earthworms and blood worm. dont put tomuch in because if he dosent eat it you need to remove it.

freeze dryed tublifex worms arnt the best and i personally have never had a fish eat them.

just remember the more you disturb him and hang around his tank the longer it will take for him to settle in. once he is eating and settled you can introduce your self and he will learn you mean him no harm.

get small earth worms if you can. ive had loads of rays that have actually seemd frightend of large ones at first lol.

try him a couple of times aday with food, dont try every 5 mins. keep an eye on the water as you are doing and waterchanges are a must still but try not to make to much of it. dont do any unneccerssary cleaning for while.

Thanks,I will ditch the freeze dried tublifex and look around some more for live.Keep the lights out and get some small earthworms for now thats the plan.
Thanks again

Only thing I will add as for as earthworms or nightcrawlers is to make sure
you cut them up into small pieces, no more than 1/4". If they are to big
and he keeps spitting them out try even smaller pieces.
Also try covering the tank with a blanket so movement doesn't startle him and stress him.
