Dear,

Im looking to have a coral cat shark. This because he should be the smallest one of the cat sharks.

I'm having a 600 liter (158gallon) tank. I know its a bit small for an adult shark so im plannin to give it to a zoo when he/she's an adult.

Can anyone help me making my decision what i need to look for and where i can find some more information.

Gr from belgium

Chaetodon semilarvatus
Forcipiger flavissimus
Acanthurus japonicus
Acanthurus bariene
Zanclus cornutus
Dendrochirus brachypterus
Rhinecanthus aculeatus
Holacanthus ciliaris (small)
Pomacanthus navarchus (small)
Pomacanthus imperator

Some of those angels might chase or pick at the shark. But, if you have a lot of rock and places for it to hide, you could be ok.

And is a coral cat shark an active swimmer or is he all day hiding under the rocks.

I dont want a shark who's all day under the rock and only comes out his cave for food. So if you recommend an other cat shark for me what would it be?

Thanx a lot

Still - Large Angels, Triggers are bad tank mates to have with small benthic sharks. So while the tank design might be okay for juvenile coral catsharks - the fish that you already have in the tank - make a catshark a poor choice.

Bali Catshark (A. baliensis) - maxs at about 19 inches (48 cm) in length. A tropical water (above 74F) active benthic species. They are still quite rare - as it's a recently discovered species with a fairly limited range (near Bali, Indonesia). But it still can be found - if you know where to look and are willing to wait.

Coral Catshark (A. marmoratus) - maxs at about 28 inches (71 cm) in length. A tropicial (above 74F) water active benthic species. Fairly commonly found species of shark for home aquaria. Pricing is usually slightly higher than the Brown-banded or White-spotted Bamboos.

Australian Marbled Catshark (A. macleayi) - maxs at about 24 inches (60 cm) in length. Another tropical (above 74F) water active benthic species. Slightly rarer than the Coral Catshark - but still fairly common .

apparently there are 2 species that are smaller than a coral cat shark. I dont know how active they are...

I also dont know how easy u can get them in belgium, if some one as experience getting shark in belgium let me know please!

I've also read that triggers are tricky with sharks.. So im still searching what i can do best. What fish has to leave and how long i could keep the shark.

For more than e year or. Which shark grows the slowest of those 3?

to be honest your tank has no swimming space for a coral cat... with all the rock work , and angels in there the shark would have to stay in one spot all day.. and because its pretty much a cube ? by the looks of it .. some periods of the day my coral cat will have a burst of energy and swim really fast . i don't think he'll be able to do that in this tank , im sorry for being mean , but have you looked into a frogfish ?

The tank is 3,6 ft.. so i dont know maybe i'm going to change the rocks zo it will have more space on the ground.. Any idees?
