need some assistance

I just purchased a 100 gal tank... Considering the price and the things it came with I took the deal.. Now my question is How important is the cross bridge glass on the top of the aquarium.. ? The one I have is broken and I was planning on just replacing it but I dont know how to remove the silicone.. or should I just leave it like that no problem? and suggestions or answer would be gratefull..

If it had a glass brace, it likely needed it. You should reolace it. The silicone can be removed with a single edged razor blade. It must be completely removed to ensure the new silicone adheres properly to the glass.
