I need an easily breedable pair of cichlids to house in a tank with a 48x18 footprint. I would do cons but their fry take a while to grow, and it would be a wasted tank on two cons.. any other suggestions?

Do you think there would be enough room in that tank for a pair of Salvinis and Cons? I could always use a divider if needs be.

If you are looking for massive fry production that grow fast get a pair of citranellum or labiatus. Ken

I thought about red devils because I heard they breed frequently.. My LFS owes me a couple fish and they have red devils.. how do you tell the male from female so I can make sure I get a pair.

They have to be vented

Do you wan't them for feeders or just a breeding pair ?

I would go for Green terrors or texas mabye or midas/ reddevil if you don't mind a ton of fry A pair of salvini would be nice to you could have more then one pair of Cons in a tank that size

Or you could go for somethin rarer and get a pair of parachromis or mabye vieja

Feeders for my wolf fish..

Granted I wouldn't mind the parents being a nice fish to own but the fry would be for feeders.

Salvinis are great fish very pretty and pretty interactive

I'd go for parachromis then if not then vieja

If you just want feeders, a couple pairs of cons would work nicely.

yea and just divide up the tank into 4 sections and then you have a convict breeding fiasco
