Last night my Paired Midas cichlids were fighting so I put a divider in and when I got hone from work today the female had laid eggs. I had the flower pot on the far side of the female side, so I decided to take the divider out so maybe the male could fertilize the eggs. When I took the divider out the male went straight to the eggs and they started fighting for 5 minutes and than just totally calmed down for about 10 min. So my question is
1: how do I know if the eggs are fertilized

2: what should I do at this point?

Please help! Any kind of tips will be alot of help. Also if I'm doing something wrong here point me in the right direction :/

They were together for about a whole week and showed all the signs of spawning until last night when they got into a pretty bad fight. Is there a certain time limit to fertilizing the eggs or does it have to be fertilized immediately after being laid?
