I got a 3yr old male herman tortoise who lives inside and i allow him acess to run around the house but his aggression to my two cats is getting out of i hand i think its funny but my mum dont see that side. so what im asking is there anyway to get him to calm down abit.

I don't know how you can calm a tortoise down. They're not smart like a dog so you can't tell them "no". I'd just keep the cats away from him if they are a bother. What does he try to do to the cats?

tortoise are well evolved, not smart. what they want to and can do is what they will do. i would suggest giving it access to outdoor areas, sans cats.

First you shouldnt having loose in your house, to big of risk of him getting respiratory infections and many others hillness. Besides the fact that doesant allow him to termoregulate and to do normal tort stuff. As for the agression, it is higly likely your tort is a male and he is simply patroling and defending what he considers to be his territory. You need to give him a bigger terrarium and specialy a outdoor pen. Also since were doing this what have you been feeding him?

cheers guys and his cage is 7x3 an in summer he goes out its to cold for him now, and what does thermoregulate mean and he has been kept like this for like 2 years and he has not had any illnesses. He is fed on greens, rocket, mixed lettuce leaves and most types of fruits that i have in the house.

Termoregulacion means the process every reptiles do to regulate their body temperature since they dont have the metabolic means to keep it constant like us mamals and birds do. Wich means they serch for a heat sorce natural or not to warm up and serch for shade or burrow themselfes to cool down. In a normal house out of the terrarium specialy as cold as you say it is, the floor is no place for a toise, its simply to cold. Also 2 years its nothing, for a toise its the blink of a eye. They way your keeping it is good in the average except for the free roaming in such cool moths. As it gets older you also have the opcion of hybernating him insted of keeping it awake in the winter but that needs lots of reserch. Insted you should build him a terrarium inside your house of the same size of the one you have outdoors. Also you shouldnt use letuces its junk for a toise or fruit, this is a mediterranean toise, its a complex grass and wed processing machine and needs high fiber in order to trive. The ideal foods are weeds like dandilions and clover and things like spineless opuncia and hibiscus. Without them use dark leafy vegetables:)
