I have a question about shipping fry and larger cichlids. Want to do the best job at shipping fish and making sure they get to their destination alive.

I have Bag Buddies, heat packs, and polystyrene insulation board, and I recently acquired a Pure Oxygen tank setup for shipping them.

How do I administer the oxygen into the bag and do how do I set the regulator? Or is it just as simple as turning the main valve on the tank and administering the Oxygen thru a tube directly into bag?(after you squeeze out all air, fill w/ oxygen right?)

Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the tank and regulator I have. I was told just to get a oxygen tank for welding

Before cracking the tank's main valve, turn the left side pin valve fully counter-clockwise. The guage on the left displays O2 pressure going out of the outlet. The right side guage shows the pressure in the tank. Once the left side pin valve is closed, you can safely crack the main O2 tank valve to prep the tank for use or to check available pressure.

For packing fish:
Place a flexible tube on the outlet. If you use a trigger handle, also use a hose clamp to hold the flex tube to the outlet. If not using a trigger, prep the bag to receive O2 by collapsing down the airspace as much as possible (If packing air-breathers, remove only about 3/4 of the air inthe bag). Place the outlet hose into the bag. Crack the main valve directly above the O2 bottle mount counter-clockwise (you'll only need to crack it a quarter turn). Next, open the pin valve between the guages clockwise until you start feeling and hearing O2 coming from the outlet. Inflate the bag to the desired point. Remove the O2 outlet hose and keep the bag from deflating. Before twisting the top of the bag and banding, place the bag inthe shipping box to ensure it'll fit. Release O2 slowly from the bag if it's too inflated for the package. Finally, twist, kink, and (at least) double band the bag opening and it's ready to be sealed in the box and shipped. Good luck.
