http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209749

i went with the eheim just because i could buy it locally and cheap now
with out waiting for shipping

the problem is the container is to small, in other words i would like to make it bigger so it can hold more food

so any one have any ideas on how i could do this

its made of plastic and Measures 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" x 2-1/2".

any thoughts?????

You'll have to pioneer that one on your own. Take it apart and see how it can be modified. Without having one in my hands to see how it works, I can't make any recommendations. I am certain that is the same problem everyone else is having.

that top piece holds the food correct? if thats the case i would cut the top off and then strap a plastic pop bottle to it with some zip ties or something like that. OR drill a big hole on top then glue a old plastic fish food jar to the top of it with same size hole drilled.

or drill a hole in the top of your feeders food holder, get a large frickin piece of shrink tube, shrink tube it to the piece that you drilled hole in, then shrink the other end of tube then fill it up.

or drill a hole and fit some pvc in or something...

How have you done so far?

Be mindful of the weight of the food, it can pack down and not feed into the mechanism.

Post some pix on what you have and what you've done so far.

If the timing options allow, can you just double(or triple, or whatever) up the feeding increments to make up for the space?

But doesnt the eheim feeder spin to dispense food? If so then that would ruin any chance of hoppers or whatever.

If the thing doesnt rotate then...

Pellets or flakes? If pellets I would just cut a hole in the feeder cup (which could be fixed later, but a little ghetto fabulously) and attach a hose barb. To the hose barb I would attach a 1 inch line (Make sure its a 1 inch barb) and put the other end of the hose over the opening to a 2 or 3 liter soda bottle.

For the soda bottle, cut the "feet" (The parts that hold it up and keep it stable) off of one bottle, then cut the bottom few inches off of another bottle (to make a lid for the bottle connected to the feeder).

Fill the bottle that is just missing feet (the other one you can go recycle now) with pellets and viola! When the feeder dispenses then the pellets from the 2 liter bottle fall in to fill the void...

Like I said, if it rotates to dispense you have no way to do this because an external hopper wouldnt work. Then attaching a new container may make it too heavy on the container end and flip it into the tank
