i have sand in my tank and i wanna get snails to clean it but i dont know witch snails will do the job. theres only a couple of snails ive seen at the stores. black mystery. i was also wondering if this snails churn the sand too.
if someone can help me out it would be great!

malaysian trumpet snails will sift the top inch of the sand bed. they are livebearers and reproduce very readily. Some people consider them a pest, i like them. Black mystery snails (Pomacea diffusa) are not efficient "cleaners". They require a diet rich in calcium in order to be healthy. they eat algae sporadically.

what about some i think there called apple snails. theres nothing i can get that my rtc wont eat?

I'm pretty sure mystery snails are apple snails -- at least, they look very similar.

Is the RTC in the sixty gallon? If so, you have a lot more to worry about, and a lot more to spend money on, than snails! You can't get a snail he won't eat, because he'll grow so large -- even apple snails, who grow the size of tennis balls, might be eaten by a fish that's three or four feet long.

I agree with Msjinkzd, MTS (malaysian trumpet snails) would be one of the best choices. During the day they are usually in the substrate. You can even see your gravel move around at times, that are the MTS.
Plus they are much more hardy than Briggs snail.

you think that the MTS can live with an rtc or you think the rtc will always try to eat him? want anyother animal to clean my tank!
are those snails hard enuff to put in uncycled water

I am the only animal I expect to clean my tanks.
