need some help!!!

im still cycling my 240 gallon tank and yesterday i noticed a small rock looking thing that was a snail, so i threw it away. today i looked inside of my tankk and saw that theres another snail but a bigger one sucking on my thermometer. how did those snails get inside of my tank? are they bad, and how can i get rid of them.
please help me out

I hate snails. I just smash them against the wall when I see them. They can come in many ways even on a new tank. They are bad in that they are ugly and breed like rabbits.

Do you have live plants in you tank is so they probaly came in on then could have been eggs to and that's why you didn't see them at first. You can just take them out with a net but if there starts no be a lot you can get a couple assissin snails to take care of them. Depending on the fish you plan on stocking the tank with they might eat them to I know clown loachs like them.

i only have sand in my tank no plants or live plants. i clean out my sump and filter pretty good, but i didnt clean my new tank, its too big. im putting a silver aro, bichirs, lima shovelnose, fire eel, and a gar. if they come again is there anything i can buy go get rid of them?

i'de wager the lima will eat them, and I know my 2 sens eat snails like mad. personally I like snails in my tanks. long as they are controlled. their populations will explode usually when there is an abundance of rotting food in the tank. my fire eels will also snack on them occasionally. copper based medications will kill them. But I'de use them as a last resort/ if it was a major problem. since copper can wreck havok on fish and a system. I would NOT reccomend it but it is an option.

alright thanks alot man! im going to try to buy a cover for my sump to get rid of those larva eggs. as far as the snails go ill try to remove the by hand for now

Clown loaches and convict cichlids do a great job of eating snails.
