Hi people, as you know, I am an aspiring monster fish keeper but I am also an aspiring singer (trying to put together a band right now, haha, have the rhythm guitarist and drummer, just need lead and bassist). Anyways, I need your critique on my voice. But yeah, I did a little cold (meaning no practice or retakes, lol, you can see me reading the lyrics) vocal cover (no instruments, in other words it's a capella) of the song "Outside" by Staind. Now, I am guessing that many of you also have a love for music or at least like music and know what sounds good and what doesn't. I need your critiquing on how my voice was when I sang the song. (If you haven't heard the song "Outside" by Staind, please listen to it before you listen to my rendition.). Anyways, I decided to use it as a small sample because I like that type of music (doesn't mean I will be making only that type of music, there is plenty of stuff that I like) and I have around the same vocal range as the lead singer for Staind (maybe more, we'll see).

Anyways, here is the link:

Outside-Staind a capella cover

(P.S. Pay no attention to the distorted looking Asian kid moving his mouth in the background . . . :grinno:)

But yeah, depending on the responses I get (if they're helpful or not) I will likely be using this thread/ board to post more samples of different and the same style songs to get feedback from you guys/gals. I'm sure that you all have a wide range of music that you like so don't get too annoyed when I sing something that you hate, lol.

Thanks. :P

(Oh yeah, if my voice turns out to be torture for you, please tell me and I'll refrain from posting in here ever again, lol.) :banhim:

Not too bad. Definitely not torturistic.

I'm very familiar with the tune and my only opinionated critics would be, I felt you used too much vibrato, it was sounding repetitive ending every line with it and work on some facial expression when your singing. A lead singer is exactly that, the leader of the band. If no one sees any heart in your singing, they will feel no emotion when watching and listening.

not the worst voice in the word
