I recently got a 150 gallon aquarium but I have no idea what fish to get for it... Something large would be nice but it has to be colorful because of the fact that its staying in a daycare. We don't want to have anything thats so aggressive that it'll kill anyother fish we keep with together.

How many fish are you wanting to put in the tank?

If only 2, I would rec. getting a pair of fish. ( jack dempseys, oscars, etc..)

OR

I breed assorted african cichlids, and they have LOTS of color. You can start with a bunch of little ones, or order a group of 15 or so large adults.

I would get some gold, green, red severums and maybe a group of 6 silver dollars and a couple plecos or a medium sized catfish also maybe some kind of Pictus ? with some drift wood and some silk fake plants I think it would look nice .

We were wanting to have more than just a couple fish or at least the daycare director was wanting more than just one or two fish. I personally wouldn't mind but since she owns the daycare I'm going with what she says

I second the sevrums!!!!!! Although acea091489 had a good idea with African Cichlids. I got some and they are very peeeerty. I think it depends on if you are trying to just make the place look FANTASTIC or if you want kids to stop and look at the fish.

Ok more information... The daycare director told me that she would like to get some sort or shrimp like cherry shrimp. so that kind of limits what we can have thats a good size fish and i don't think I can keep any kinds of cichlids can I?

Cherry Shrimp in a 150? I keep them in a 2.5g. You should get some oscars, they are colorful, easy to care for, and friendly to people. They will come up to the glass to greet you and follow you around.
