I am going to start investing soon into a tank larger than the ten gallon that I have sitting in my room and I am more than likely going to be getting a 40 gallon breeder tank (its the only size tank at the moment that really fits my room) I was wondering what some cool stocking ideas would be. Siince theres the large footprint I figured I could get one or two bichirs to put it, if not for life then as a good step up before I get my BIG tank when that time comes. I thought maybe a delhezi or two would be a nice choice, maybe a senegal and the list goes on for bichirs. But If i purchased two or three bichirs what would be some good other stocking ideas? Thanks in advanced guys!

PS: I'm aware that i will need to upgrade the tank in the future ofr the larger bichirs, so its not like this is gonna be it.

Well yeah 3-5 Bichirs can go in a 40galbreeder, BUT if you have room for one more foot get a 75gal....
Bichirs:
Senegal(all varients)
Delhezi
Palmas Complex

Watch out for LFS that work with Segrest Farms, they sell WC Senegals as Palmas....Check the Primer for tankmates

dimension would help

Anything that doesnt get over a foot would work. I'd try to stay a little lower like 9-10" just for good measure though. Just look in the primer for tankmate tips and find some that you like and stay smallish.

alright thanks for the advice :] Know of any other fish that could comfortably stay in a 40gal breeder for life?

Xenomystus nigri, African brown knife. PetSmart has them relatively cheap and stocks them with senegals.

That IMO is a great tankmate idea...Also BIG Congo Tetras, anything smaller than 4"-5" will be swallowed by a 10" Sen IME
