hello, my father is gifting me his nikon d70, the one in pics. i know nothing about it nor did he have the manual. but my 1st question is he said the outter lens broke u can see the ring from the lens that broke in last pic. so im looking to replace this. but while im looking what can i do or get to help take better pics of my fish. and close ups of bugs an plants an flowers. do i just need to buy different lens like the that broke? i was reading that for close up pics u need a micro lens. is that just a lens like the one that is broke or is it a whole pice? bc when i looked at micro lens on ebay there expensive an huge. i only need the end lens correct. or do i need a more, thanks for any replys. sorry if im confusing as im very confused atm as i never had a crazy camera like this. cant wait to start snapping pics:drool::naughty:

oh looking for me? whats up?

bu you can prolly still use the lense but not worth it since it will get all dusty and ruins the pictures. if you want micro shot you should look into micro lense. like the 60mm prime or the 105mm. photography is expensive just letting you know.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see anything broken. The Quantaray filter you have pictured is just that, a filter. It's an optional accessory that get's screwed on to the lens itself and is not needed to take pics. The lens itself is fine. It's mainly used as protection for the lens. Is the filter damaged?

Yeah, for macro photography on a budget, you're actually better off just using a point and shoot camera in my opinion (most macro lenses cost more than my camera itself). My Canon SX120 IS (priced at $199) actually takes pretty decent macro shots, so I just use it for macro, and I use my dslr (a D3000) for everything else.

These were taken on a used $80 lens. Learning photography will go further than a big expensive lens.
