just got home with my new pike. it was labled jewel pike in the lfs. can anybody tell me the latin name. also what do they max out at? I'll post pics soon. just got a digital for my bday.

, i knew itCommon names don't work for pikes....not really....lol. So i have no idea which pike you are talkin about. It sounds like a type of Saxatilis pike though, just by the way you described it and all. Pictures are most helpful....

Just watch out for the band width...lol...its a killa! But tis a great site! One of my 'bookmarked' sites......also keep in mind most of the pike pictures on there are of adults.... Lugubris pikes juv. look nothing like adults for the most part. Saxatilis pikes are a little better about this, lookin a lot like the juv wit some changes.

thanks. i think its crenicichla frenata. been in the tank for 15 min. its eating already and it pretty much claimed the tank for itself. thanks for the help.
keepin a close eye on him/her. used to have another but the rtc i used to have ate em. really starting to like these pike though. tryin to get a picture up but having some difficulty right now.
