My LFS has a Dat in-They say it's a tiger dat-

They never get these guys in and have it for sale for $40 at the 2 to 2.5 inch range-Is this a good deal.

They have it in a brackish setup-Is this normal---

I want to buy it and put it in my community tank 125 gal freshwater obviously...Is this doable or do they require a brackish setup-

If no-How do I acclimate from brackish to a fresh setup?

Thanks in advance for the help guys and gals......Much appreciated...

i bought my indo from my LFS who had them in brackish water. i did a large water change and added about a half a cup of aquarium salt. the other fish seemed to show more color when i added the salt. i still add a little when i do a water change

i paid $30 for my 2.5 indo. in my area i think thats common since not alot of LFSs get them in. another one has them for $40 that size but unstable compared to the one i got.

when i bought my indo he was in brackish and i acclimatised him by just adding a little of the tank water every 10 mins for an hour and then i let him out and he ate straight away! i know that he wasn't properly acclimatised after an hour but it just shows you how tough they are and he had no ill effects whatsoever so i say go for it and good luck!:)

"Tiger" can refer to any Datnoid. That price range and size would suggest Indo, or
Thin Bar. Look thru the Dat ID sticky for some ID charts.

Either one of those species should be in fresh water.

To acclimate the fish, just drip it for a few hours.
