i have a 125 gal with two jds and pleco and a cat right now. what else can i put in with? also i wanna change the color of the gravel, it is brown right now and i want somthing that is gonna bring out the jds color better.

Light gravel and bright plants.....fake or real will do.

leave the brown gravel and paint the back of your tank black. you will not regret it, as far as tankmates, get some cichlids that are around the same size and temperament and try them out. With cichlids its hard to say that this or that is going to work for sure because each fish's personality is so different from the next. Some fish I would try would be green terrors, oscar, silver dollars as dithers, and so on.

yeah what kind of cat is it? and agree with the black background, though im kind of hesitant about doing something as permanent as painting (yes you can scratch it off but thats a pain) i would prefer vinyl, though its everybody's own preference paint is cheaper and a lot of people dont mind but black background will bring colors out way better in your fish, also your JD a pair or same sex? you could easily add 2-3 more cichlids of around the same size and temperament like nells said, green terrors are very pretty i would also suggest carpintis as they are very pretty though i dont know how they would get along with the dempseys...

theres numerous options for that size tank, it really depends on what you like as there are many cichlids that can live in that size

Be careful, when it comes to medium size sa ca cichlids, a 6' 125 gallon aquarium isn't as versatile as one might think.
Convict, Sajica, Firemouth, Blue Acara, smaller cichlids such as these, but not restricted to, may be better tank mates than say gt, or texas, considering you have 2 jd already.
